Tres Leches Cake

I recently returned from a business trip to Puerto Rico where I was able to try Tres Leches (Three Milks) cake for the first time. WOW! Here's the thing though, all of the recipe's I find online are actual cakes, the dessert I had was in a cup which was full of liquid with chunks of the cake floating in it. While this may not sound that good with my crude description, it was one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. I have since found that this is a very popular dessert in Latin culture. I guess I will have to play around with some recipes to see if I can re-create what I ate in Puerto Rico. If you ever see this on the menu when you're out and about, I would recommend that you try it. You owe it to yourself!

Olive Garden's Chicken & Shrimp Carbonara

I can't believe it! This is amazing! Let me back up... We went to dinner at Olive Garden (Yummmm!) the other night with my sister and brother in law. After perusing the menu, my brother in law decides to go with the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara. When it arrives at the table, he takes a quick sniff of it and comments that it smells a good bit like Carino's Chicken Scaloppini! Well, as you may imagin, I was sceptical. After tasting it, he said it even tasted a good bit like the Scaloppini. He offered me some and I was floored at the similarities! Now, there were some obvious differences, like the existance of shrimp in the Carbonara, and the fact that the chicken in Olive Garden's recipe is prepared differently. The overall affect, though, is a delicious dish remanisant of my favorite meal of all time: Carino's Chicken Scaloppini! If you have a chance to try it, I highly recommend you take it.

Johnny Carino's Chicken Scaloppini.

Ok, This is my all time favorite meal eaten in a restaurant. I have tried to re-create it in my own kitchen to miserable failure. The chicken is perfectly breaded. The lemon butter cream sauce is sooo good. The bacon and mushrooms mix with the lemon butter cream and fill your mouth with flavor. This is one of those dishes that every bite is better than the last. The first place I ate this was the Johnny Carino's in Athens, GA, so I always call the restaurant that. I later found that most of them are just called Carino's. Either way, if you have one near you, you have to try this dish.

Edwards Frozen Pies.

Wow! If you have never had one of these pies you are missing out! You can
get these frozen pies at the grocery store, or through Schwan's. We have
tried the Oreo and the Reese's flavors and both are great. I will warn
you though, these pies are very rich. One piece is enough, even for my
sweet tooth. You can buy them by the pie, or in a smaller package with just two slices. This is the best candy-brand pie I have ever had. I highly recommend them!

Chili's Honey-Chipotle chicken crispers.

I had these for the first time the other night when I went out with my wife. They looked great on the menu and I was in the mood for something new. My wife ended up spending most of the meal trying to sneak pieces of my chicken off the plate! The first impression when you put it in your mouth is the sweetness. I have a huge sweet-tooth and usually want a sauce to reflect that. This one was perfect. It's a thick honey type sauce that coats the chicken well.
Soon after the sweet, you get just a little kick when the Chipotle side surfaces. It's not so hot that it sends you running for water, which is good because I'm not a fan of hot food. It's just a little bit of heat to offset the sweet. All in all, it's a great dish and I would highly recommend it.
